Alyssa's Fieldtrip to Latta Plantation

I got to go to Alyssa's fieldtrip to Latta Plantation. I really enjoyed spending the morning with her and her class.

Fun While Camping

Bryson loved the lake. It was so dirty though. The girls loved playing Bocce Ball. It's a great family game. Alyssa got it from Grandma and Papa Drury for her 8th birthday. They had come to visit in May and bought it for her then.

Labor Day Weekend

We went camping Labor Day weekend. It was Bryson's first time. He loved the outdoors. We went near Statesville, NC at a KOA crampground. We wanted to camp at Lake Norman, but they were full by the time we got there. It was a lot nicer at the KOA grounds because we had running water, showers, bathrooms, a store, etc. We were close enough to still swim, fish, and enjoy Lake Norman.

Shelby's First Day in Kindergarten

Shelby's teacher is Mrs. Bullis. Shelby has learned so much already in kindergarten. The other day she defined habitat for me. I thought it was cute. She is spelling small words and loves writing words and making up spellings in her notebook. She loves earning coins to go to the class treasure box.

First Day of School

Alyssa is in 3rd grade this year. Her teacher is Mrs. Banks. Alyssa is a very good student and loves riding the bus to and from school. We lost her glasses again over the summer so we're off to buy her third pair this weekend.

It's only been two months!

I know it's been a very long time since I last posted anything. Life has been a whirl wind lately and we've been having computer issues so I haven't had the patience to be on it very long. I'm using Dennis' laptop so hopefully I can catch up on what has gone one in our family.

The girls started school August 25th. Meet the teacher was August 21st. These pictures are from that day.

The Newest Additions To the Drury Team

No we're not having another baby. We just added two guinea pigs. Can you believe I actually agreed to this? Alyssa and Shelby have been wanting a pet so bad. I thought the beta fish were enough and the poor things rarely get fed. We put a fence up thinking we would be getting a dog soon, but I guess they had another kind of animal in mind. We had just visited Petco and the girls held a guinea pig on Monday. I had said that if they would hold it we could get one someday, but they had to earn half of the money. Alyssa had already been on the Internet pricing things out. Can you believe she's only 8 and can figure out how to do that? Anyways we figured it would be around $90 to buy a new cage and all the works. I thought they would forget about it by the time they earned $45. Anyways...I was putting some old baby items on craigslist and told the girls they could look at the pets. Maybe someone would be giving away a free cage or talk them into a dog instead. Well a half an hour before we started looking, a lady was giving away her guinea pigs with everything for free. She even had two. One is Mannie and one is Emmy. The girls and Bryson love them so far. We're still getting use to them. I still haven't even held them, but they mostly hold Mannie because Emmy is still a little afraid of us. Wouldn't you be? She must be the smart one.

Alyssa and Shelby even slept in their own rooms next to their piggies last night. Alyssa chose Mannie and Shelby chose Emmy. Emmy only has one eye. Alyssa told Shelby that she's lucky because she gets the unique one. Shelby got mad and said, "She's not unique, she's Emmy." Oh, Shelbers!!!
